Taking Care of Each Other

It's often natural to mimic good practices we experience as a child later in life. For Greeley Society member Sandy Searl that includes giving back.

Sandy grew up in Story City and learned about giving from her parents and grandparents at a young age. However, it wasn't until she was an adult that she fully understood the importance of it and the satisfaction it could provide.

When you work hard for a living, as Sandy did for 38 years in quality control at Danfoss, you want to invest your earnings wisely in things you truly care about. For Sandy, that includes supporting the day-to-day operations and future of Mary Greeley Medical Center.

Although never a patient herself, several of her friends and family members have received excellent care at Mary Greeley, including her twin brother Larry. "When Larry was admitted as a patient we were so worried about him and the seriousness of his condition. But, everyone was so kind and took the time to explain what was going on," Sandy says, "it helped keep us calm. The staff was not only warm and personable, they took wonderful care of him."

When it came time to consider her estate plan, it seemed only natural for Sandy to include Mary Greeley in her will. "It was easy to do with the help of my attorney and it assures me that my plans will be executed according to my wishes," she says.

In addition to her planned gift, Sandy donates quarterly to the Foundation to help with current needs. "I am a firm believer in the importance of giving back to my community. It's how we take care of each other. I want to make sure my giving continues to help those in need even after I am gone," she adds.

You can ensure the future of Mary Greeley's quality care when you include a gift to the Mary Greeley Foundation in your will or other estate plan. To learn more, please contact Sarah Heineman at 515-239-2421 or heineman@mgmc.com.
